Because this is you we’re talking about. Since when is it ever anything good? So again I ask- while I show some degree of care to even bother too- what’s wrong now?image

Nothing is wrong, actually.

Huh. That’s a shock.

What’s the matter this time?image

Why do you always assume something is wrong? Maybe I just saw something that was disturbing and I made a comment about it.

imageThe crowd in front of him thinned out, hands moving out of his pockets on just the slightest gesture of relaxing. Relaxing, that should prove to be interesting given his usual temperament towards the concept. Idle hands brushed off non-existent dust from the front of his jacket, busy work to keep himself distracted from the lull of anything else to truly do.

Light foot steps behind him barely garnished attention, it wasn’t until a hand tapped on his shoulder did Nathaniel turned to glance behind him. Surprised darted across his features- how did this kid even get behind him without being noticed in the first place? As attention-getting as he looked, how had he not seen him? Was his skills slipping that much? Seriously?

Blue eyes narrowed subtly, an eyebrow hitching as Nathaniel studied the young man’s face- he at least was different, as far as he could remember, he’d only read about Albinism, definitely was interesting to actually see someone with the condition. That fact alone warranted Nathaniel actually playing nice with someone living.

“Something I can help you with?” He pushed a disarming smile onto his lips- looking honestly friendly all things considered.

Jeremy could have been using all the time that the man took to take in his appearance to think of what to say, but, he didn’t. In fact, he blanked out for those few brief moments, his mind becoming almost completely cleared. This kind of occurrence was such a rarity, that Jeremy still hadn’t snapped out of it when the man did acknowledge him. He simply stared forward blankly, his head barely comprehending that the other had said something.

When he did manage to snap out of it, his eyes were the only thing to move at first. They moved to look at the stranger, only to make Jeremy quickly come to the realization of what the man had asked. He shook his head, trying to wake himself up fully so he could answer. Wake up, dammit. He responded to you. “I’m sorry, uh, I’m Jeremy Reed.” He introduced himself, holding out hihand.

That in it self never happened, so after he had done it, a confused expression crossed his features. Wait… what did I just say? “I’m sorry—Mhem, I’m zoning out.” By this point, he figured the other was probably annoyed with him and expecting an explanation. “I saw you from across the street. I couldn’t help but think that you looked like you didn’t belong here. So… I guess I just approached you without thinking.”

It took most of his tact to keep from commenting ‘You’re a little slow, aren’t you, kid?’- that and the desire not to see exactly what someone at least twenty years younger than him could do. While Nathaniel had his prideful moments, he wasn’t stupid. So he waited- as patiently as he could- for the other to do something other then stare blankly at him. Seconds ticked away, grating at Nathaniel’s nerves, but he kept the disarmingly polite smile across his lips.

Finally. The smile remained in place, though almost strained as he finally let it fade once the other apparently came to his sense and realized he wasn’t a deer in the headlights. Lovely, he is a little slow, Nathaniel mused to himself as he gave a slight nod of his head. “Pleasure, Jeremy Reed”, the last name slid off his tongue lazily, drawn out for his own mild amusement. “I’m Nathaniel Rabb”, he exhaled, glancing down to the offered hand for a moment- debating shaking it after years as a surgeon and his hands being far too valuable to risk. “I don’t shake hands, sorry”, the apology seemed borderline sarcastic in its delivery, despite the polite upward twist of his lips.

Nathaniel kept the impatience to himself, considering it the better thing to do- even if his apathy told him other wise. A dry laugh managed to escape him at Jeremy’s remark, the smile taking a sardonic edge for a moment as he shrugged a shoulder. You have no idea, ran through his head. “That can be dangerous, Jeremy, could get you into trouble that way.”

ooc;

I’m kinda tempted to make like an open post or something, but I don’t think anyone would answer me if I did.
